I implore everyone to avoid the sequel, Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs. I know a collaboration between Vincent Price and director Mario Bava sounds like a genre fan’s dream come true, but it’s a bonafide nightmare. Largely a vehicle for Italian comedy duo Franco and Ciccio, it’s painfully unfunny in a way that no amount of alcohol can improve.

    I’m sorry to read that the movie wasn’t what I always touhght it was (I’ve passed the box in my local rental store many times, but never picked it up for some reason). I foolishly assumed that, no matter what, Vincent Price, Frankie Avalon, and mindless ’60s cheesecake would be a winning combination.

      Don’t get me wrong. It is indeed a winning combo and a whole lot of fun, even if Vincent Price didn’t get to be the song ‘n’ dance man he always dreamed of being. Girl Bombs is a big disappointment, however, so I’d stick with the original.

      That’s awesome. Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine is a super fun picture. The performance by Sam & The Ape Men is a big part of that vibe. It definitely left a lasting impression on me. I’d love to read some of your recollections on the performance, production, and just the scene at that point in time.

      I’d also like to take this belated opportunity to express my sadness at the passing of Annette Funicello earlier this month. I’ll probably cover her appearances in Ski Party and Fireball 500 at some point on this site, but she was really the total package. Nowadays, you can be famous for being famous, but Annette was a true singing, dancing, and acting triple threat. She’ll be sorely missed.
